Star War: Rebels Is Why We Need Shorter TV Seasons!

star-wars-rebels

I know Rebels ended over a month ago, but I had to catch up on my DVR, and today is Star Wars day, so the timing is perfect!  Star Wars: Rebels had a 15 episode season last year and it most mostly great.  This season they got a full order of 22 episodes, and there was a lot more filler.  Don’t get me wrong there was still some really good stuff in there, but not every episode was must watch, and worse still it seemed like some of the episodes covered things we had already seen before.

That being the case the season finale was still amazing.  It tied in threads from The Clone Wars, Knights of the Old Republic, The Force Awakens and of course the original trilogy, and it all made sense!  It also managed to make the call to the Dark Side truly seem alluring.  If it is the way to gain more power and save your friends why wouldn’t you?  To the uninitiated it seems a lot more helpful than being a non-feeling stuck-up do-nothing jerk of a Jedi.

Star Wars: Rebels would be a better series if they cut out all the fluff.  If this was a focused 10-12 episode series it could be one of the best on TV.  Though I understand the reasoning for its longer run with Star Wars being so hot right now, so Rebels is a money printing machine, and like the finale proved it can still wow its audience.  I just wish that was every episode, not every other.  Who knows maybe they will find a little more meat next season and I will be asking for even more episodes, but I doubt it.

Trailer Time! Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!

I have to say I didn’t think there was anything they could do to make the Death Star cool again, but I was wrong!  This looks great!  I guess Disney is getting even more of my money this Christmas.  They way things are going maybe I should just start giving them money on an installment plan.

And Now How Star Wars: The Force Awakens Should Have Ended!

This wasn’t one of their better episodes, but I have nothing to talk about today and it did bring up some good points.  If you are one of the three people in the Unites States that hasn’t seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens you should know that this video contains major spoilers.  Like you know … how the movie ends.  Enjoy!

Investigate Star Wars: Before The Awakening!

Do you want to know a little bit more about the three major new Star Wars characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens?  You do!  Do you have the Hoopla Digital app from your local library?  Then you can read about Finn, Rey, Poe for free in the novella Star Wars: Before the Awakening by Greg Rucka.  Otherwise it is $8.50 on Amazon.

You are not going to learn anything ground breaking in Star Wars: Before the Awakening, so feel free to read it even if you haven’t seen the movie yet.  It just provides a little background information on the new crew in three short stories.  Like why Finn can use a light saber, why Rey is so good at fixing things, and how Poe got in to the Resistance.  Plus just a little more info on what the Resistance is in the first place.

Actually you get the most Force Awakens background info out of Poe’s story which makes his the most worth reading.  Though I did like the little tease of how things work in The First Order with Finn.  Rey’s story is good, but you don’t get any new info.  Just that she works hard on Jakku. Fun but lacking any substance.

Star Wars: Before the Awakening was a good little read and easy to recommend to Star Wars fans.  Especially if you have the Hoopla app and can read it for free.  Since it is so short, I might wait for the price to drop if you are Hoopla-less.  I enjoyed spending a little more time with the three new lead characters, and I suspect you will too.

Shmee’s 5 Most Anticipated Movies For 2016!

Well I ended the year with my favorites from the previous year, so it is time for me to give you my list for what films I am most looking forward to this year!  There are a lot of high profile movies coming out in 2016, so this list was hard to narrow down, but here we go!

5: Star Wars: Rogue One

Star-Wars-Rogue-One

Disney gave us a very good film with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and I can’t wait to see how the first ever non-Skywalker film turns out.  I am a little hesitant to have another prequel film.  They often come with prequel problems.  Still, it easily lands on my list for movies I am looking forward too.

4: X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men-Apocalypse2

Bryan Singer revived the modern superhero movie, so I am very excited to see how he closes out his X-Men universe.  It drops a couple of spots on this list because I am not a huge Apocalypse fan, but I am sure Singer will come through.

3: Captain America: Civil War

X-Men: Apocalypse and Civil War kept flip-flopping on this list, but the Disney Marvel movies have too much momentum not to make it to number three.  I really hope this movie turns out because the quality of the Marvel movies has been dropping lately.  Still, Iron Man versus Captain America sounds awesome.  I hope Stark gets it!

2: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

The wife and I have been watching a lot of Harry Potter lately, and that has got me super jazzed to watch a return to that universe!  A prequel that I am super excited for, I can’t believe it!  Well you will know where to find me come this November.

1: Batman V Superman

They have been hyping this movie for what seems like forever, but come this March we finally get Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more all on screen together!  Even if this movie is terrible (though preview leaks say it is very good), that is something to be excited for.

That is my list, and like I said there are a ton of movies coming out this year, so it could have very easily been a top ten list.  What movies are you excited for this year?
